STIM.buzz was not born in a venture incubator. It began as a five-year biological investigation into whole-plant Smilax extract, tested in the field, and turned toward the honey bee when the scale of the collapse became undeniable.

The Five-Year Arc

George Steward is a disabled veteran, field practitioner, and self-experimenter who spent over a decade working directly inside living ecosystems. Not looking through a university window, but with his hands in the root collar, the Texas clay, and the canopy.

When systemic health challenges struck his own household and companion dog, Eros, conventional solutions offered only symptomatic suppression. Turning to ethnobotanical archives and biochemical literature, George focused on Smilax china (Greenbrier) and its unique suite of steroidal sapogenins, brassinosteroid analogues, and dihydroflavonols.

Between 2019 and 2024, George conducted a meticulous longitudinal protocol, including an intentional 18-month washout period (2023-2024). When the protocol was paused, biological resilience faded slowly and structurally rather than collapsing overnight. That demonstrated an essential principle: this was not pharmacological receptor dependency, but durable proteostatic infrastructure.

When the Canary Failed

In early 2026, scientific literature confirmed a terrifying mechanism: neonicotinoids do not just poison honey bees, they bind nAChR receptors and spike octopamine, causing bees to overheat internally until their flight-muscle chaperones collapse.

Watching 1.6 million colonies collapse across the US, George recognized the exact same molecular failure node: Heat Shock Protein (HSP70/HSP90) depletion under environmental and chemical shock. The same brassinosteroid-mediated chaperone pre-conditioning that protected mammalian cells was the exact thermal armor honey bees needed in the field.

STIM.buzz was spun out as a dedicated, standalone apiary initiative to get this botanical thermal armor into the hands of beekeepers before the 2027 season.

Seventh Generation Philosophy

Guided by Creek heritage, STIM.buzz operates on the Seventh Generation principle: every intervention must protect and serve living systems seven generations forward. We do not manufacture synthetic chemical biocides that induce pest resistance and soil toxicity. We bio-ferment whole-plant botanicals that strengthen the bee's own evolutionary defenses.
